but I think I have ended up where I needed to be
Are you a programmer or a charity? Check this out. =]
The only cool thing about having a job, is being able to afford festivals. After three years of Wacken, this year it’s time to Hellfest, in France:

In italic are bands that I’ve seen already. Except for Unisonic, but I’ll see them in two weeks, so by Hellfest it will be an already seen band. \o/
If you are attending Hellfest this year, let me know. Let’s grab a wine (that’s what french people drink, right?)
As my very few followers might have noticed, this is Blind Guardian week.
I learned Blind Guardian was coming back in Brazil last year, in November while I was in Germany. I’ve been really excited about it since then. I missed the concert they did here last year. I saw them at Wacken though. =]
They actually came to play at the very shameful festival that didn’t happen. Well… half of it happened, but unfortunately Blind Guardian had to cancel their presentation, as did many… MANY bands. Why they had to do that is not the case.
Anyways… after all the mess in São Luiz, they arrived in São Paulo and on Monday the show happened.
I got at Credicard Hall around 7:00pm, met some friends and went to get my passes. Got the photo pass, but the backstage pass was kinda hard to get. It took almost an hour to set everything straight. A little bit of drama, but understandable. It had been a stressful couple of days to everybody.
Unfortunately, because of that, I missed Grave Digger. :( They started to play 40 min before scheduled. I entered the venue at 9:01 and was able to listen to Heavy Metal Breakdown. I didn’t get mad or anything because I’ve seen Grave Digger way too many times, last time being in Wacken in 2010 (yes, the time Hansi showed his underwear on stage).
30 min later they went on stage. I was in the photo pit and I got a bit confused. Dance or take photos? OH MY GOD! Such a hard decision. So… I did both. =]
The venue had way more people than I could have expected, after all, a concert on Monday? And at Credicard Hall? Only those that live in São Paulo can understand how far that place is and how hard is to get there. It was crowded and I was proud of the town I now call home (when I’m not in the I-hate-São-Paulo mood).
I must confess that I suck at remembering songs played and the order of them, so I’ll trust the setlist they posted on setlist.fm.
When they started playing, the crowd just went insane. I sang and took photos at the same time. I still can’t believe how I was able to take a decent shot.
After the third song I had to leave the photo pit and went to the “premium” area. Usually, I try to take more pictures while in the crowd, even though the promoters don’t like it (sorry Helo) but this time I just put my camera on my backpack and danced with my #Tavern friends. I think I’ve never danced and jumped so much (maybe at Nevermore in 2010 at Wacken). There are probably some videos on youtube (“crazy people at blind guardian”, “idiots can’t stand still *at the iron hill*” or something like that).
I really can’t tell when I jumped more. All I can say is that at the end or Mirror Mirror, my shirt was all wet (gross). Simply amazing.
It’s just GREAT and AMAZING to be at the concert of your favorite band with your best friends whose favorite band is the same. What can I say? I’m a lucky person with the best friends in the world.
The after show was cool. I finally met Hansi Kürsch and Andre Olbrich. Hansi is the nicest person ever.
Now the question is: I’ll be in Germany at the end of June. Should I go see them again?
Update: Forgot to give the link to the pictures. Here. =]
